What this is
The project
Darkheart is a fan-run, non-commercial revival of First Assault — the Section 9 shooter Nexon shut down. It is being rebuilt from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5, for Windows, macOS and Linux, using assets extracted from the original client.
The rule the whole project is built around: keep the gameplay feel exactly. Movement, recoil, spread, ADS zoom and camera behaviour are driven by numbers read out of the original game's own data tables — not re-guessed by hand.
What it is not
- Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to NEXON.
- Not commercial. Nothing is sold here, ever.
- Not a re-release of the original client.
- Not playable yet — there is no public download and no open server.
Archive readout
Real figures from the project's own extraction pipeline, not marketing numbers. The weapon sandbox in the build is driven by those 83 decoded weapon rows directly — and every one of them is readable in the Armoury.
Where it actually is
Running today
- Team Deathmatch and Demolition, server-authoritative
- Weapon sandbox off the original tables — recoil, spread, falloff, true ADS zoom
- Movement feel rebuilt to the original's numbers
- Downtown, imported and walkable in a packaged build
- Cross-platform builds from one source tree
Still ahead
- Characters — the player is a viewmodel and a capsule for now
- Audio — 6,273 events named, none hooked up yet
- Front-end, matchmaking, operatives, progression
- More maps, bots, and a practice range
- A public build, a server browser and community links
This page will change as those move. Nothing above is a release date, because there isn't one.
Early access
The build isn't public yet — no download, no open server, no date. But there will be one, and there's a list for it.
